Basic Workflow with InDesign Server

Hi,

The company I work for is considering InDesign Server, but we want more information on the basic workflow on the development side.

A) What kind of file formats does it process? Is it only InDesign files that it works with, or can it also use Illustrator, Photoshop, Flash and/or PDF files?

B) What are the basic workflow steps, from designer to developer?

C) Is XML the main variable data language?

D) Are there any examples of how this is being used?
